Tsu ( jap. 津市 , - shi , literally: port ) is a city and the administrative seat of the prefecture Mie on Honshū , the main island of Japan , on the Ise Bay about 60 km south of Nagoya .

history

Tsu was originally a castle town (see Tsu Castle ). During the Edo period , many hikers stopped in town on the way to the Ise Shrine , which is 40 km to the southeast.

He was appointed Shi on April 1, 1889.
