Kameyama ( Japanese 亀 山 市 , -shi ; literally: Turtle Mountain ) is a city in the Japanese prefecture of Mie . The city is famous for rōsoku (candles).
history
Kameyama is an old castle town where the Ishikawa last resided with an income of 60,000 koku . The remains of Kameyama Castle , which can still be seen on Hiroshige's woodcut, are still preserved.
Kameyama and the places Seki ( 関 町 , -chō ) and Sakashita ( 坂 下 村 , -mura ), which were incorporated on November 11, 2005 , were post offices ( 宿 場 町Shukuba-machi ) of the Tōkaidō during the Edo period .
