The National Road 1 ( Jap. 国道1号 , Kokudō 1-gō ) is the main east-west road in Japan and crosses the main Japanese island of Honshu by Chūō in central Tokyo to the center of Osaka and connects it with the National Straße 2 . Their course essentially follows that of the old Tōkaidō . It was established in 1952. Its beginning and thus also the zero point of its kilometering is on the Nihonbashi Bridge. This is also where the national road 4 begins , which leaves the bridge in the other direction.
