Owase is south of Tsu and north of Kumano on the Pacific Ocean .
history
The city of Owase was formed on June 20, 1954 from the former community Owase ( 尾 鷲 町 , -chō ), the villages Sugari ( 須 賀 利 村 , -mura ) and Kyuki ( 九 鬼 村 , -mura ) of the district of Kitamura , and the villages of Kitawanai ( 北 輪 内 村 , -mura ) and Minamiwanai ( 南 輪 内 村 , -mura ) of Minamimuro County.
