Eileen Walsh (born April 16, 1977 in Cork ) is an Irish actress .

life and career

Eileen Walsh was born in 1977 in the port city of Cork in the south of Ireland and grew up there. At first she had no ambitions to become an actress. Eventually, she decided to attend acting workshops and follow the example of her older sister Catherine Walsh , who is also an actress. Her portrayal of the Runt in the stage version of Disco Pigs received rave reviews. She made her film debut in a supporting role in the 1996 British comedy film Fish & Chips, directed by Stephen Frears . In German-speaking countries, Eileen Walsh became known for her portrayal of Crispina in the British-Irish film drama The Merciless Sisters from 2002. In 2008, she was honored at the Tribeca Film Festival as Best Actress for her role in Eden .

Eileen Walsh has been married to the sculptor Stuart McCaffer since 2003 and has a child born in 2005. The couple currently (2011) live in Scotland .
