Eillium Island is a small island in the archipelago of the South Orkney Islands . It is located 2 km northwest of Route Point , the northwest tip of Laurie Island .
It was discovered and roughly mapped by the captains George Powell (1794-1824) and Nathaniel Palmer in December 1821. A new mapping was made in 1903 participants of the Scottish National Antarctic Expedition (1902-1904). The expedition leader William Speirs Bruce (1867-1921) named it after his son Eillium Alastair Bruce (1902-1969).
