To draw a line (under something) is a German phrase . If someone wants to draw a line under something, then he wants something z. B. no longer discuss.

  • z. B. has been demanded by various circles since the late 1940s that it must finally be over. B. with coming to terms with the past or reparation agreements .
  • z. For example, ex-partners break off contact, hold a ritual divorce ceremony or a divorce service

The term is probably derived from the horizontal line that is drawn under an account during bookkeeping in order to be able to carry out a balance sheet .
