history

Hans Einhell, owner of an installation shop in Landau an der Isar, asked his nephew Josef Thannhuber to take over the business in 1964. On June 2, 1964, Thannhuber founded Hans Einhell GmbH . Initially, Einhell produced electrical engineering to order, and in the years that followed, the company began producing tools and gardening equipment for home use. Important products were battery chargers, welding equipment and garden grills.

internationalization

The first subsidiary was an additional production facility founded in Spain in 1973, and further subsidiaries in Europe in the following years. In 1994 a production site was established in Asia, where production continues to this day. The products are designed and developed at the company's headquarters in Germany.

Since the beginning of the 1990s, Einhell has expanded into most of the neighboring European countries by founding additional subsidiaries. In 2008, Hans Einhell AG was renamed Einhell Germany AG. In 2019, the group had 39 subsidiaries and around 1,600 employees worldwide.

Group structure

The globally active sales companies are brought together under the group holding company Einhell Germany AG, based in Landau an der Isar in Lower Bavaria. The 39 international subsidiaries look after customers and suppliers in over 90 countries and should also ensure global service.

In Germany and Austria, iSC GmbH, also based in Landau an der Isar, has been responsible for service as a 100% subsidiary with around 140 employees since 1995. Internationally, iSC GmbH acts as the service center of the Einhell Group. Customers can purchase spare parts directly from their website, use a repair service, and view and download instructions for use and other technical information. Their product range now includes parts for more than 80 different brands in the DIY, gardening, and heating and air conditioning segments.

The tool manufacturer kwb tools has also been part of the Einhell Group since 2012. As a company that also sells accessories for power tools and gardening tools, the purchase of kwb was a strategic decision.

In July 2013, the Asian-Pacific economic area was opened up with the takeover of the manufacturer Ozito, a manufacturer of power tools and garden tools.

Managing directors

The Einhell Group's management is held by a four-person executive board. After almost 40 years at the helm of Einhell, company founder Josef Thannhuber gradually introduced a generation change at management level in the early 2000s. In 2001 Andreas Kroiss, then managing director of Einhell Austria, was appointed to the board in Landau, where he was responsible for the “Tools” division. The next step followed in 2003: the appointment as CEO. Together with Jan Teichert, who (also in 2003) joined the board as a former auditor and authorized signatory with the finance department, and Markus Thannhuber, who was entrusted with the board department technology as a doctorate in 2007, Andreas Kroiss set the course for a new one Orientation of the Einhell Group. A focus on quality formed the basis for a boost in sales, a large number of innovations and the company's international success today.

On July 1, 2019, Dr. Christoph Urban appointed by the Supervisory Board to the Board of Management for IT and Digitization. Dr. Urban has been in a leading position in the company since 2002 and most recently (since 2014) managing director of the 100% subsidiary iSC GmbH.

The supervisory board of Einhell Germany AG consists of three members: the chairman of the supervisory board Dieter Spath (member of the supervisory board since 2006, chairman since June 2015), the deputy supervisory board of the Einhell group elected by the shareholders, Philipp Thannhuber (2015) and Maximilian Fritz, elected by the employees (since 2009).
