Unity Katernberg (officially: Turnerbund Einigkeit Katernberg eV ) was a sports club from the Essen district of Katernberg . The first soccer team played for a year in the highest amateur league in the Lower Rhine region.
history
The association was founded in 1892. The football department of the Katernberger was not sporting significant until the end of the Second World War . After Einigkeit initially played in the district class for a few years, he was promoted to the Ruhr district class in 1951 . There the Katernberg champions were two points ahead of Essener SV 1899 and managed to march through to the state league , the highest amateur league at the time on the Lower Rhine.
There, however, the team was overwhelmed by sport and promptly rose from bottom of the table with 110 goals conceded. In the following 1953/54 district class season, unity was not competitive in terms of sport and was passed through to the district class. The club played there for a few years before it merged with BV Eintracht Katernberg to form SpVgg 92/28 Katernberg in 1960 . BV Eintracht was founded in 1926 as SSV Katernberg as a spin-off from Sportfreunde Katernberg .
