Saalfelden Hermitage

The hermitage on the Palfen is a hermitage near the city of Saalfelden , Austria at 1006 meters.

The hermitage is inhabited from April to November. The remote building is not connected to the electricity or water network. The hermitage is a listed building . It is a popular destination for hikers and pilgrims.

history

The hermitage was built in the 17th century above Lichtenberg Castle . The 34th hermit has been Matthias Gschwandtner from Bad Ischl since June 2020, as the successor to the Belgian Stan Vanuytrecht. The current hermit was selected through a competition.
