Einstein's dream. Expeditions to the limits of space-time (English original title "Black Holes and Baby Universes and Other Essays" ) is an autobiographical and popular science book published on March 31, 1993 by the English physicist and mathematician Stephen W. Hawking . The German edition was published that same year (translator: Hainer Kober ).

The book consists of twelve essays that were written by the author between 1976 and 1992. The appendix contains an index of persons and subjects and the wording of an interview that Hawking gave as part of the BBC series Desert Island Discs . In the first part he tells about his life and his illness. Further essays are devoted to his theories of cosmology and black holes, and form a sort of continuation of his bestseller A Brief History of Time .
