The railway bridge over the Río Toltén crossed for Pitrufquén in southern Chile to Toltén River . It consisted of a lattice girder with a suspension bridge above it . The viaduct consisted of nine sections each 49 meters long and had a total length of approx. 450 meters.
The bridge, completed in 1898, collapsed on August 18, 2016 under the load of a freight train.
