Lapovo railway accident

In the railway accident in Lapovo on October 9, 1988 , a train derailed in the railway station in Lapovo , Okrug Šumadija , Yugoslavia (today: Serbia ) . 33 people died.

the accident

As the express train passed from Skopje to Belgrade through the Lapovo station, the last two wagons of the train derailed and hit the locomotive of a freight train waiting there . They were badly damaged. Since all train protection equipment had worked perfectly and there was no fault on the part of the staff, the cause of the accident was determined to be “ technical failure ”.
