Orvieto railway accident

The Orvieto railway accident was the collision of a passenger train and a freight train on June 13, 1945 near Orvieto , Italy . About 70 people died.

For unknown reasons, a train carrying British and Italian soldiers as well as returning deportees from Germany collided with a freight train carrying fuel at full speed. The fuel and both trains caught fire.

About 70 people died. The exact number of deaths could never be determined due to the devastation caused by the fire.
