Iron stain

Iron stain is damage to potatoes ( Solanum tuberosum ). The viral iron stain is caused by the tobacco rattle virus (TRV), it is transmitted by nematodes (roundworms) and leads to small brown spots inside the tubers .

The nematodes of the genus Trichodorus transmitted at its suction action on the plants roots the virus that adheres to their mouth sting. When sucking on plant roots, the nematode becomes infected with the virus on virus-carrying plants and spreads it to all subsequently pierced plants until its next molt.
