Eisenvater is a rock / metal band founded in April 1990 in Hamburg by Jim Sudmann and Markus E. Lipka, whose sound is dominated by electric guitars and combines stylistic elements of Sludge , Doom and Industrial Metal . The band has always resisted being viewed as a pure metal band, as they have always been rather hostile to any kind of style conservatism.
Band history
After initial difficulties in finding a record company for German singing , the band was signed by the small, southern German hardcore label We Bite Records , on which the band released their debut album in 1992 . The publication was followed by a first tour within Germany. Despite various line-up changes, two more albums were produced and released in 1994 and 1995. Further tours through Germany and a few shows in neighboring countries and the USA followed.
In mid-1996 it was decided by mutual agreement to put the cooperation on hold for the time being. The band members devoted themselves to other musical genres such as electronica . Sudmann and Bellendir were also involved in Lipka's electric guitar orchestra " Rossburger Report " at this time .
In April 2002 Sudmann and Lipka resumed work on Eisenvater and in the following year they recorded the already composed pieces for the fourth album with a new bassist (Stefan Gretscher) and the new drummer (Johannes Schäfer), who had been found after a long search in January 2005 . This album, which was created after a break of several years, did not reproduce the sound of the first three albums.
In 2012 the then drummer Johannes Bonnin left the band and Peter Bellendir returned to the drum stand. In 2013 he died after months of illness as a result of organ damage. Nic Stockmann subsequently joined the band as the new drummer.
