Ice spatula

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An ice spatula is a shape of a spatula , a single-use cutlery for scraping or spooning ice cream . It is usually added to ice cream portions in ice cream parlors, provided they are intended for consumption outside the home and are not served in a waffle cone but in a cup.

Appearance

It is a disposable article that is approximately 8 cm long and is available on the market in many colors (both transparent and opaque) and in some shape variations. Ice spatulas are typically made of plastic or - less often - of wood; a handcrafted version made of bone is sometimes offered at medieval craft markets .

etymology

Colloquially simply referred to as an ice cream spoon, the ice spatula is more closely related to the tools spade and spatula not only because of its shape, but also because of its language origin; all three names are rooted in the Latin term "spatula".

Others

The price for plastic ice cream spatulas in specialist shops (including VAT ) corresponds to the intended use. This very low price makes the ice spatula an inexpensive aid, despite its ecological dangers, and also tempts you to misuse it here and there, be it as a children's toy , as a tool for applying paint in painting or as an art subject .
