El País ( German  Das Land ) is a Colombian regional newspaper that has been published in Cali , Valle del Cauca , since 1950 . It appears daily with an average circulation of 68,000 on weekdays and up to 92,000 copies on weekends. The newspaper belongs to a media group controlled by the founder's family, Lloredo.

The paper was founded on April 23, 1950 by the regional businessman and politician Álvaro Lloreda Caicedo and his family. The first edition came out of the press in an old house a block from Plaza de Caycedo . Today El País is the most popular medium in the Valle del Cauca department and in the south-western part of Colombia .

The Journal is part of the Latin American Newspaper Association (PAL), which also includes other major publishers in Latin America .
