Elaine Smith

Elaine Smith (born May 7, 1963 in Coatbridge ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Labor Party .

Life

Smith attended St Patrick's High School in Coatbridge. She obtained a bachelor's degree in economics and politics and then trained as a teacher. She then worked in local politics and taught at various schools. Smith is married with one son.

Political career

In the Scottish Parliament elections in 1999 Elaine Smith won the direct mandate of their constituency Coatbridge and Chryston and defended its mandate in the parliamentary elections in 2003 , 2007 and 2011 .
