Elastico feint

In soccer , an elastic is a feint that is supposed to confuse the opposing player. This should be deceived about the direction of the ball-bearing player to take, with the aim of circumventing him in a 1: 1 situation.

content

Here, the ball-carrying player brings his foot under the ball in such a way that he guides it essentially with the outside of his foot. The ball is then pushed in one direction, with the opponent supposed to believe that the player carrying the ball will move in that direction. The foot is passed under the ball so that the ball is finally on the inside of the foot. Then the ball carrier changes direction abruptly and pulls past the opponent in the newly chosen direction. The correct execution of this feint requires very good coordination and high speed . Because of the risk of losing the ball, it should only be used deep in the opponent's half.

origin

The Brazilian national player Roberto Rivelino was believed to have invented the Elastico. However, he emphasized that he had copied the trick from Sérgio Echigo - a Brazilian player with Japanese roots. This trick was seldom seen in the 1980s. The Brazilian international Júnior showed it at the 1982 World Cup against Scotland . This technique became known and perfected by Ronaldinho in the mid-1990s. Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos had shown it before. In English one also speaks of flip flap .
