history

The company E. Looser & Co. for the production of oil burners was founded in 1928 by Emil and Elsa Looser in Vilters. Emil Looser had previously been involved in the sale and repair of bicycles, sewing machines, motorcycles and devices for milk processing in agriculture. The first product was an industrial burner for heating ovens and a real innovation. In 1964, one year before the death of the company's founder, Emil Looser, the workforce had grown to 520 employees and in 1978 1700 employees achieved a turnover of 200 million. In 1987 the company went public. In 1989 the heating technology division of Klöckner & Co was taken over. Until 1992, his son Hubert Looser presided over the Elco Looser Holding.

In 1995 the listed ELCO Looser Holding AG was taken over by Preussag through a public takeover offer . In 1996, the industrialist family Looser bought back the FLH Holding AG contained therein (which included activities that were not connected to heating technology) and built up an industrial group under the name Looser Holding .

In 2000, the companies ELCO Energiesysteme AG, Brennwald AG and Cuenotherm SA merged to form Elcotherm with headquarters in Vilters. In 2001 the ELCO Klöckner companies were then taken over by the Italian MTS Group (now Ariston Thermo Group) from Preussag. From 2005 Elcotherm will operate under the brand name ELCO Heating Solutions .
