Eldad Regev
Eldad Regev ( Hebrew אלדד רגב; ) (Born August 16, 1980 in Kirjat Motzkin ; † July 2006 ) was an Israeli soldier who was captured together with Ehud Goldwasser on July 12, 2006 by Hezbollah in Operation Keeping Promise . This was one of the factors that triggered the 2006 Lebanon War . Even after the armistice between Israel and Hezbollah, Eldad Regev was not released, so his whereabouts and return were a political issue and led to disputes between Israel and Lebanon.
On July 16, 2008, the remains of Regev and Goldwasser were handed over to Israel in exchange for convicted terrorist Samir Kuntar and four Lebanese prisoners of war from the 2006 Lebanon War, as well as the remains of 180 people killed in fighting with Israel.
