The artist remained loyal to his record company and released his second work A Dark Forgotten Past on CD and LP in 2017 .

style

Eldamar plays Atmospheric Black Metal . For this u. a. a "harsh voice", "brutal guitar playing" and "frenzied drums" combined with a "playful synthesizer".

As references are u. a. Called Luster and Summoning .

reception

The debut album shows “ some of the best and worst elements that atmospheric black metal has to offer ( English some of the best and worst elements that the atmospheric black metal genre has to offer ), it said in a review. The quality of the production was positively emphasized in this context, while the songwriting was identified as a weak point. Elsewhere, the first work came off better in the core. The only criticism was that the artist had "dragged out the album a little too much" and that the listener "no longer perceived and followed everything as it was supposed to be".

In the case of the second work, the “most serious disruptive factor” was named as “widespread wordless female singing”. It was also critically emphasized that after the keyboard the "remaining instrumentation [...] leaves something to be desired". Even if the debut is preferable, Eldamar should "not be written off" because "the project is simply too interesting and promising" for that.
