The Electrical Rule Check (ERC) is a step in the layout verification of integrated circuits . It ensures the electrical functionality of the designed layout . To do this, the ERC verifies the electrical consistency of the layout. For example, it is checked whether there are no short circuits, whether transistors are connected to supply line networks and whether transistor outputs are connected.
