Electrant

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Elektrant is the designation for devices for the extraction of electrical energy (analogous to the hydrant , which is used to extract water). Electrants are often used in the railway sector as a service component of the local railway infrastructure, but also as part of securing railway tunnels and wherever a decentralized connection to the power grid is required, be it to operate snow-making systems on ski slopes or to provide a power connection on campsites. Electrants are also used on many inner-city marketplaces (weekly market). Since the weekly markets are usually operated for a few hours twice a week, these electrants can often be lowered into the ground when they are not in use (recessed electrants).
