Elena Shaftan

Elena Shaftan (* 1971 in Riga , Latvian SSR , today Latvia ) is an investment banker .

Life

Since her father was employed as a scientist at the Russian Space Agency (Institute of Space Research), she spent the beginning of the 1990s in Yakutsk . Because she also wanted to work in the technical field, she first studied radio technology at the Technical University of Riga .

Eventually she went to London , where she found her first job in 1995 at AIB Govett Asset Management and was entrusted with the management of the Eastern European Fund. In September 2002 she switched to Jupiter Asset Management (a Commerzbank subsidiary), where she manages Jupiter Emerging European Opportunities , which focuses on Eastern Europe and Russia (approx. 50% stake). The fund was valued at $ 1.2785 billion as of July 30, 2008 and consists of 30 to 35 companies. In addition to this fund, she manages four others.
