Ivory plaster
Ivory plaster , also ivory mass or Cauer mass , is an ivory-like mass made of hard plaster of paris with a fine crystal structure, other mineral substances and a binding agent . The material, developed in 1842 by the German sculptor Karl Cauer , can be poured into molds . As an alternative to the relatively expensive bronze casting or the less durable plaster process, sculptures can be easily reproduced and manufactured inexpensively and persistently. In addition, the surface of ivory plaster is easy to clean.
