from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The elfin thyme ( Thymus 'Elfin') is a thyme culture form that was created around 1969 .

features

The elfin thyme is an evergreen, compact, small, cushion-forming subshrub that reaches heights of 1 to 5 centimeters. The plant rarely blooms, only a few flower stems are formed. The leaves are elliptical, fleshy, short-stalked and measure 2 (rarely 1.5 to 3) × approximately 1 millimeter. The chalice is 2 millimeters long. The upper calyx teeth are broadly triangular. The flowering shoots are bare on 2 sides, sometimes they are completely hairless in the lower section.

The flowering period extends from May to July.

use

The elfin thyme is rarely used as an ornamental plant for rock gardens and planters.
