Elias Geßler

Elias Geßler (* before September 26, 1539 in Memmingen ; † between 1616 and 1619 in Strasbourg ) was a gunsmith in Strasbourg.

Life

Elias Geßler was born in Memmingen in Upper Swabia . He emigrated to Strasbourg in 1565 and worked there as a gunsmith until 1616. There he acquired citizenship in 1565 and married. He was the teacher of his first and third son. The first son continued the father's workshop. He gave his house as security for a plant. Two sons and two daughters can be recorded by him in a document. In the documents Elias Geßler is named as a gunsmith and gunsmith. He is proven in 1585 as a computer and in 1616 as a chamberlain in the guild offices. The house at Metzgerstrasse 3 next to the Gasthaus zum Ochsen belonged to him in 1587. His wife married the gunsmith Paulus Hessler in 1619 , after which it can be concluded that he had died earlier.
