Elias Tillandz
Elias Tillandz (also Elias Tillands, Elias Erici Til-Landz (Erici is not a first name; it means he was the son of Erik Tillander), Elias Til-Landz) (* 1640 ; † 1693 ) was a Finnish botanist . Its official botanical author's abbreviation is " Tillandz ".
Live and act
Elias Tillandz was a professor of medicine at the Turku Academy in Finland . He founded the Botanical Garden there in 1678 and introduced the study of botany. In 1673 he published the first flora of Finland under the title Catalogus plantarum .
Honor taxon
Carl von Linné named the plant genus Tillandsia ( Tillandsia ), which belongs to the Bromeliaceae family , after him .
