Elisabeth Boedeker (born October 10, 1893 in Hanover ; † July 1, 1980 there ) was a German librarian and chronicler of the women's movement .

Life

Elisabeth Boedeker worked as a librarian at the Technical University of Hanover . As part of this activity, she created a 300-page index of all 50 volumes of the 600 individual issues of the journal Die Frau, published by Helene Lange and Gertrud Bäumer , since the first volume in 1894/95. This documentation is still an indispensable aid for dealing with the first women's movement .

For the period from 1920 to 1970, Boedeker documented all female academics who had qualified as a professor and also prepared comprehensive documentation on them and their scientific works. Between 1935 and 1939 the bibliography “25 Years of Women's Studies in Germany” appeared in four deliveries, in which all 5949 non-medical doctoral theses written in Germany by women who were generally admitted to study in 1908 and 1933 were listed.
