Elisabeth Nowak-Thaller

Elisabeth Nowak-Thaller (* 1960 in Linz ) is an Austrian art historian .

Elisabeth Nowak-Thaller is the daughter of the Linz Buam bandmaster Robert Thaller . She studied art history, journalism and communication studies at the University of Salzburg . Since 1986 she has worked as an art historian, exhibition organizer, art mediator and provenance researcher at the Neue Galerie der Stadt Linz and Lentos Kunstmuseum Linz .

She is Deputy Director - and in 2017, after Stella Rollig left until Hemma Schmutz was appointed, she became interim director of the Lentos Art Museum Linz and the Museums of the City of Linz. She is also the coordinator for equal treatment issues for the city of Linz, a juror, specialist librarian and lecturer at the Linz University of Art.

The illustrator Klemens Brosch is one of her main areas of research and she wrote her dissertation on him. Nowak-Thaller is considered a brochure expert. She is the author of several specialist books and articles as well as exhibition catalogs.

She is a member of the Association of Women Academics in Austria.
