from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Elisabeth Vary (* 1940 in Cologne ) is a visual artist and art professor who lives and works in Cologne and Coberon (France).

Live and act

After graduating from high school, she studied at the Cologne Werkschulen from 1959 to 1964, where she was appointed master class student with Prof. Kohlscheen-Richter, then moved to the Düsseldorf Art Academy until 1969 and in 1970 was appointed professor of art and illustration at the Cologne Werkschulen (in the later department of the FH). With the closure of the Free Art Department in 1993, she moved to the newly founded successor university , the Cologne Art Academy for Media (KHM) as professor for spatial media and media art, where she taught until 2001.

Elisabeth Vary's works are a synthesis of painting and sculpture. Her objects - of strong, colorful intensity and depth - reach into the space, vibrate in the third dimension.
