Elisabeth Wappis

Elisabeth Wappis (born May 2, 1952 in Wölfnitz ) is a former Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and AHS teacher. Wappis was a member of the National Council from 1989 to 1990 .

Wappis attended elementary school and then a federal high school , which she completed in 1970 with the Matura . Wappis then studied biology at the University of Graz and passed the teaching examination in 1975. In 1981 Wappis obtained her doctorate. After completing her studies, Wappis started teaching biology in 1976 in Klagenfurt.

From 1980 Wappis was chairwoman of the Wölfnitz women's movement and from 1985 chairwoman of the women's movement in the Klagenfurt-Stadt district. Furthermore, from 1989 she was regional party chairwoman of the ÖVP Carinthia and a member of the party executive of the ÖVP Klagenfurt-Stadt. Between 1991 and 1997 she was a councilor for the city of Klagenfurt. In addition, Wappis was active in the teachers' representation and represented the ÖVP from June 7, 1989 to November 4, 1990 in the National Council.
