Elizabeth Birch

Elizabeth Birch (* 1956 in Dayton , Ohio ) is an activist for the US lesbian and gay movement. She was executive director of the Human Rights Campaign until January 2004 , when she joined Howard Dean's campaign team as a senior advisor. She is currently giving lectures for Campuspride.net. Before joining HRC in 1995, she was the global litigation director at Apple Computer and general counsel for her subsidiary Claris .

In 2000, Birch became the first leader of a lesbian and gay organization allowed to deliver a prime-time speech at a national party convention when she was addressing the Democratic National Convention .

Birch graduated from the University of Hawaii with a college degree in 1980 and received a JD from the University of Santa Clara School of Law . Her partner is Hilary Rosen , former chief executive of the RIAA .
