Elizabeth Jane Via
Elizabeth Jane Via (* 1948 ) is an American Roman Catholic theologian .
Life
Via studied Roman Catholic theology and law . As a college professor, she taught Roman Catholic theology at the University of San Diego in California . In 1984 Via signed the A Catholic Statement on Pluralism and Abortion campaign that appeared in the New York Times . In later years she became a district attorney in California. As a proponent of women's ordination , she was ordained a priestess in the 2000s. She belongs to a group of meanwhile more than 100 Roman Catholic theologians who were ordained priestess as a result of the ordination of seven Roman Catholic theologians on the Danube in 2002.
