Ellen is a place within the market town of St. Lorenzen in South Tyrol . The village is located on the Ellener Berg , which delimits the Bruneck basin to the west, at 1360  m slm Until 1928, Ellen was an independent municipality, then the village was incorporated into the market town of St. Lorenzen.

Ellen’s Church was dedicated to Saints John and Paul in 1483. There is a small village center around the church, while the other yards of Ellen are scattered across the mountainside. On the south side of the church there is a sundial dated with Gothic numerals , which shows the year 1618.
