With her work on Lichtmystik (1972) and Goldgrund (1982), she has written internationally recognized and still topical basic works. This was followed by two volumes on Swiss glass painting from the 12th to 15th centuries as well as publications on Gothic book painting . While her books were primarily oriented towards the history of style and iconography, her articles followed methodologically new directions: They deal with the function of objects, theological backgrounds, questions of motif choice and historical-political programs.
