biography

Ellen Sell grew up with her brother without her father, who was killed in Russia in 1943 , in the bombed-out Hamburg of the war and post-war years. Since her mother could not enable her to study, she did not become a teacher but an industrial clerk. Until her marriage, she worked in the import and export business and trained apprentices. It was only after her two own children left home that she began to publish children's books and short prose for adolescents and adults.

She is a member of the Literaturzentrum eV, the Literaturhaus Hamburg and the Hamburg Authors' Association (AV). She was on the board of the AV and is in the directory of authors at Hamburg schools. Since January 1, 2014 she has been a member of the Association of Artists and Art Friends (GEDOK) in Hamburg.
