The Ellines Ikologi ( Greek Έλληνες Οικολόγοι ) are a Greek party . It was founded in 1986 by the peace activist Dimosthenis Vergis under the name Enosi Ikologon (gr. Ένωση Οικολόγων). It is described by observers as "bizarre".
Among other things, the party calls for the abolition of compulsory military service and voting , the legalization of cannabis and unrestricted nudism .
In elections, the party usually advertises with nude models. Dimosthenis Vergis himself appeared in the election campaign without clothing.
For the European elections in Greece in 2009 , the Ellines Ikologi appeared with the Greek singer Nikos Katelis (Katman), who was also a candidate for the election. Although the party achieved its historically best result in this election with 0.61 percent, it was not enough to jump over the three percent threshold that applies to elections in Greece .
As far as is known, the Greek ecologists never had mandates in parliaments.
