The Elma Electronic AG , headquartered in Wetzikon is an international Swiss manufacturer of electronic packaging products for the electronics industry . The group of companies employs 752 people and generated sales of 151 million Swiss francs in 2019. The company is listed on the Swiss stock exchange SIX Swiss Exchange listed .

Field of activity

The company develops and manufactures individual and system solutions. The modular product range includes components for 19 "mechanics , modular housings, control cabinets and backplanes , right up to fully assembled systems. The system range includes all common system architectures, such as MicroTCA , Open VPX or CompactPCI Serial. The systems are available on request Elma also produces rotary switches for use in electronic assemblies.

history

The company was founded in 1960 as a sole proprietorship in Mönchaltorf. In 1965 it expanded to Germany with the establishment of a subsidiary in Munich. In 1970 Elma moved its headquarters to Wetzikon. In 1974 the company was completely taken over by the Sulzer Group . With the establishment of a subsidiary, Elma expanded to the USA in 1985, where it founded another subsidiary in 1990.

In 1996 the company was separated from the Sulzer Group and went public with an IPO . In 2000, the company founded additional subsidiaries in France, Israel and England and made acquisitions in Germany and Romania. Expansion continued in 2004 with the establishment of a subsidiary in China and a company takeover in the USA, which was followed in 2005 by a further acquisition in England.
