Elmar Hubert Müller (born May 21, 1942 in Esslingen am Neckar ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and former member of the German Bundestag.

Life

Müller was born in Esslingen in 1942 as the seventh of twelve children and grew up in Wernau (Neckar) . After attending primary school, he attended the commercial and vocational school, which he finished as a retail salesman. He then did his military service from 1960 to 1961. He worked in industry for 17 years until he started working for the CDU association. Most recently, from 1984 to 1991, he was regional manager of the CDU Economic Council in Baden-Württemberg. In 2001 he founded the PostKundenForum eV for consumers based in Berlin. From June 2003 to June 2013 he was a board member of the German Association for Post, Information Technology and Telecommunication eV ( DVPT ) based in Offenbach / Main and Berlin. He has been an honorary director of the DVPT since 2013. Since 2006 he has been an honorary board member of the Kreisblasmusikverband Esslingen. Since 2007 he has been the 2nd chairman of the history room in Wernau am Neckar.

In 1967, Müller joined both the CDU and the Junge Union. He is honorary chairman of the CDU district association Esslingen / Neckar. From 1975 to 1991 he was city councilor and parliamentary group leader of the CDU in Kirchheim unter Teck . He resigned after being elected to the German Bundestag in 1990. He was the chief negotiator of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group, which discussed the privatization of the Postdienst, Postbank and Telekom companies in the twelfth electoral term. In the 13th electoral term he was the negotiator in discussions about the liberalization of the markets in the postal and telecommunications sector. Müller was the post-political spokesman for the CDU / CSU parliamentary group, deputy chairman of the Post / Telecom sub-committee and a member of the “ ERP business plans” sub-committee . He worked in the German Bundestag until the end of the fourteenth legislative period and left it in 2002. At the same time, he was Chairman of the Regulatory Council at the Regulatory Authority for Post and Telecommunications (now the Federal Network Agency ) during his membership . From 2004 to 2008 he was again a city councilor in Kirchheim unter Teck.
