Elmer Symons
Elmer Symons (born February 14, 1977 in Ladysmith , South Africa , † January 9, 2007 in Morocco ) was a South African motorcycle racer.
Symons began his career as an enduro rider in 1996 in his South African homeland. After moving to the United States in 2003, he was able to achieve good placements in numerous regional competitions. In 2005 and 2006 he took part in the Dakar Rally as a mechanic , and in 2007 he took part in it for the first time. 142 kilometers after the start of the 4th stage from Errachidia to Ouarzazate , he had a fatal accident on his own KTM . Symons is the 54th casualty in the history of the Dakar Rally.
