Technical specifications

HR-2

Version 1.0
Protype with two 500 W motors, one at the front and one at the rear, and a first version of the cockpit.
Version 1.1
Pre-series version, as far as possible already in configuration V 1.2, but still with a 2 kW motor in a different design.
Version 1.2
The hub motor (brushless, 3-phase DC) of the ELMOTO has an output of 1.7 kW (peak power 2 kW) with a torque of 50 Nm. The: Lithium-ion battery with 48 V voltage and 24 Ah capacity is enough for 65 km. The ELMOTO weighs 45 kg. Charging takes 4 hours up to 80% and 6 hours up to 100% of the capacity (all manufacturer information).
Version 1.3 (from July 2010)
Big update in the area of the motor controller and the battery. This results in a better suit and an almost noiseless engine run.
Lithium-ion battery with 48 V voltage and 31 Ah capacity made in Germany. Floating Venti discs are now used as brake discs. The bench has also been revised. It is now firmer and more robust.

TE-2

Version 1.0
First prototype, technically the same as HR-2 Version 1.2
Version 1.1
Second generation of prototypes, technically up to date with HR-2 Version 1.3, frame geometry changed compared to TE-2 V 1.0
Version 1.2
Pre-series model as it is also used in the model project, frame geometry changed again compared to V 1.1

Manufacturer

The manufacturer is ID-Bike GmbH in Stuttgart . Design and development come from the Stuttgart design office IPDD GmbH und Co. KG. Around 350 ELMOTOs had been sold by the time the field trial began. Up to July 21, 2011 approx. 3000 Elmotos had been produced.

Field experiment

Field test ELMOTO at an EnBW stand

The EnBW resulted from 4 July 2010 to 31 August 2011, a field experiment with 486 participants by, all were made available for the duration of the experiment a ELMOTO. On July 4th, the field test started with a convoy with the first 330 ELMOTOs to the Schloßplatz in Stuttgart .

In addition to the normal ELMOTO (HR-2), there were also specimens of the pre-series model of the low-entry model (TE-2) in the field test, which differed as follows:

  • Bicycle saddle instead of bench
  • Step through in front of the saddle
  • Porter
  • more comfortable chassis design
  • Different steering head angle
Second field test ELMOTO

This model was given preferentially to women and smaller drivers. Shortly before the end of the field test, due to a broken frame on one specimen, all of the low-entry models were collected and distributed some time later with a modified frame.

At the end of the field test, around 40% of the participants took over their vehicles.
