Karl Prinz (born January 31, 1949 in Hagen ) is a German diplomat who served as Ambassador to Sierra Leone from 1991 to 1994 , Ambassador to Mali between 1997 and 2001 , Ambassador to Guinea from 2006 to 2011 and Ambassador to Guinea from 2011 to his retirement in 2014 Côte d'Ivoire was.

Life

After graduating from high school in Hagen, Prinz began studying economics at the Ruhr University Bochum and the Saarland University in 1967 and graduated in 1972 with a degree in business administration . He then worked as a development worker for the German Development Service (DED) in Botswana between 1973 and 1976 , before joining the Foreign Service and, after completing his attaché training, worked at the embassy in Nigeria from 1979 to 1981 .

After a subsequent assignment at the Embassy in the United States , he worked at the Embassy in Ireland between 1984 and 1987 . Prince then worked in the Foreign Office until 1991 and ambassador to Liberia from 1991 to 1994 . After he was permanent representative of the ambassador to South Korea until 1997 , he was only ambassador to Mali from 1997 to 2001 and then until 2005 as head of division in the Foreign Office.

Since 2006 he has been the successor to Dirk Baumgartner as Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Guinea . On September 15, 2011, he became ambassador to the Ivory Coast, successor to Stephan Keller , who retired , while Hartmut Krausser became the new ambassador to Guinea. Claus Auer replaced him in 2014.
