Eloro ( Greek  Ἕλωρος , also Ἔλωρος ) is the ancient Heloros in Sicily .

Location and dates

Eloro is about eight kilometers south of Noto on the coast of the Ionian Sea and the mouth of the Tellaro River . The place is in the area of ​​Noto.

history

Eloro was born in the 8th century BC. BC probably founded from Syracuse . Finds of Greek ceramics prove this.

Excavations

The city was surrounded by a belt of walls. There were two square towers, one on the north and one on the south. There were houses and streets from the 8th to 4th centuries BC. Found. A small temple dedicated to Asclepius was found in the north . There is also a large temple to the south of the excavations .
