history

The Eugen Lutz company was founded in 1928 by Eugen Lutz sen. founded in Dürrmenz, today a district of Mühlacker. In the foundry he operated, light metal sand castings were made. In 1930, the manufacture of machines under the brand name "Elu" began in Mühlacker-Lomersheim. The first series product was the Elu disc grinding machine MT 1.

In 1951 Elu began to develop machines for woodworking and power tools and to sell them across Europe. In the same year, the MOF 11 motorized hand router with high-performance universal motor came onto the market, which was sold across Europe. In 1959, Elu founded Elu France, the first foreign subsidiary in France. In 1966, machines for aluminum and plastic profile processing were developed for the first time, including the first generation of copy milling machines, the SAL 54. Their successors from the 1960s, the AS 70 and AS 170, are still in use today.

In 1967 Elu developed the table and miter saw TGS 71 with a patented swivel mechanism. In 1972 the DG 79 double miter saw came on the market. It was the first large-scale double miter saw for manual and industrial production. With the models DG 102 and DG 104, further saws for aluminum construction followed, which were unrivaled in the 1970s and are still sold today. In 1978, the DG 184 double miter saw was introduced, which enables compound cuts . In 1979 the logistics area was expanded and the company now uses a computer-controlled, modern high-bay warehouse.

In 1984 the Elu power tools and Elu woodworking machinery divisions were sold to Stanley Black & Decker . The company brand was changed from "Elu" to "elumatec".

In 1992 elumatec developed the first profile machining center. The SBZ 130 establishes automatic processing and is considered a pioneer in its class. In the same year the company begins to expand its operating network. In 1997 elumatec expanded its sawing program to include the DG 244 double miter saw, a machine that can handle different cuts and large profiles. In 1998 elumatec brought the SBZ 610/03 cutting center onto the market. This profile machining center is the first machine to work for plastic profile machining, regardless of profile, without counter profiles. This design enables profiles to be converted or retrofitted quickly and cheaply.

In 2001 the elumatec subsidiary elusoft GmbH was founded. Among other things, it develops the eluCad software for the elumatec rod machining centers.

In 2005 the new building was completed on the company's premises, which now has 8,200 square meters of floor space for production and administration.

In July 2013 elumatec filed for bankruptcy. In the course of the subsequent restructuring of the group, elumatec was renamed to elumatec AG on January 1, 2014. The elumatec Group was restructured and sold to the Italian Cifin Holding Srl in January 2016. Mühlacker remained the headquarters and production site.

In 2018 elumatec celebrated its 90th anniversary, among other things, at the trade fair appearance at the Fensterbau Frontale 2018 in Nuremberg. Among other things, the 1000th profile machining center of the 6XX series was sold there.
