Elvira Schweida

Elvira Schweida , married Elvira Brakl , ( 1870 in Budapest - after 1902) was a Hungarian opera singer ( soprano ).

Life

Schweida, the daughter of the Hungarian composer and professor of music Rudolf Schweida , who played an excellent piano and organ, was also her teacher and in 1893 she made her debut as "Undine" at the Stadttheater Zurich, whereupon she was engaged in Mainz, Teplitz, Bern etc. and later no longer accepted a fixed engagement.

Her most popular roles were “Agathe”, “Nedda”, “Santuzza”, “Pamina”, “Regiment's Daughter” etc. She had a rarely high soprano voice, was quite musical and practiced her artistic activity with great seriousness and diligence and with appreciable devotion .

Her life after 1902 is unknown.

She was married to the theater actor and singer Adolf Brakl , Franz Josef Brakl and CM Brakl were her brothers-in-law.
