Embamunaigas ( Kazakh Ембімұнайгаз , Russian Эмбамунайгаз ) is a Kazakh mineral oil company based in Atyrau . It produces oil and gas in the Atyrau region in western Kazakhstan and is a subsidiary of KazMunayGas Exploration Production .

history

The company's history began with the geological exploration of the Eskenefeld at the end of the 19th century. In the following year, the first drilling began in the areas around Dossor, Karaton, Maqat and Karashungul and in 1899 the first oil was produced at the Karashungul field . This was the beginning of oil production on Kazakh soil. On April 10, 1912, with the help of foreign investments, the Emba company was founded. In 1915 mining began on the Maqat field. In 1922 the Embaneft group was founded to develop the Dossor and Maqat fields.

After Kazakhstan's independence, the Embamunaigas joint stock company was created in 1993. In 1999 the company merged with Tengizmunaigas to form Kazakhoil-Emba, a subsidiary of the newly formed state-owned oil company Kazakhoil. In 2002 it was renamed Embamunaigas again. In 2004, through the merger of Embamunaigas and Uzenmunaigas, the new company KazMunayGas Exploration Production (KMG EP) was created; Embamunaigas was transformed from an independent company into a manufacturing branch.

Embamunaigas was re-established as an independent company on February 27th. It had previously been integrated as a production line into KazMunayGas Exploration Production for eight years. Production began on October 1, 2012 after KMG EP's underground rights were transferred to Embamunaigas.
