Emika (2011)

Emika (actually Ema Jolly ; * 1986 ) is a British musician and record producer . Their music can be assigned to the genres Dubstep and Trip-Hop .

Life

Ema Jolly is the daughter of an Englishman and a Czech. She grew up in Milton Keynes, UK .

She received classical music training on the piano and in composition. She later studied music technology and then worked, among other things, as a sound designer and as an intern at the music label Ninja Tune before starting her career as a musician. In 2007 she moved to Berlin .

Her debut album Emika was released in 2011 by Ninja Tune. In 2013 the second album Dva followed . Since 2014 she has been releasing on her own label Emika Records.
